Beauty can be found anywhere — even an old abandoned building in some random sleepy town.
While exploring this place, a few questions came to mind:
How many cups of coffee were enjoyed during conversations with customers?
How many kids did this business help send to college?
How many marriages did it help support?
Was this someone’s dream?
Why is it abandoned?
What happened?
Photos were taken in Pawhuska, OK.
You can lay your hands on these walls … breathe in the atmosphere …. feel the walls vibrations through every cell in your fingertips or any nerves flowing through your hands …. Oh sometimes it would be so fun to be able to travel back in time … to see and experience what happened right there … around these walls 🙂

Yes! I just walked around trying to envision this place with life, people conversing, having a purpose.

There is the surface level beauty in the faded colors and weathered textures. But I believe the deeper, haunting beauty reveals itself once you start asking the type of questions in your post. And,then again once you consider the potential answers. Beautifully captured Thomas!

Absolutely! I’ll research more on this and see what I can find out. Or is it best left up to the imagination?

Great question. I believe it is the artists decision, which is maybe different for each photo. Personally, I usually go somewhere in between.

You take such cool photos!
There’s something about abandoned houses… that exciting but eerie feeling. Love it!

Thanks Jo! It was quite the find! I’ll have to research more and see what happened and then give an update.

Sorry, didn’t mean to hit reply yet. I feel some background info or context is helpful. But, it’s also important to leave some degree of the message up to the viewer’s imagination.

This is true. I think I’ll leave it alone for now, and maybe come back later with an update. Unless the story is rather boring, then I’ll just leave it up to the reader to determine what happened.
